GM Returns to In-person on 9/26
The Coop is resuming our in-person General Meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 26, at 7:00 p.m. We will be gathering at the Picnic House in Prospect Park. Members are not required to register to attend the GM unless they are seeking work slot credit (detailed below). The Picnic House has a capacity of 250 persons.
All members must scan their Membership Card or membership barcode on their phone to verify membership and enter the GM.
The September GM will also be the first with the revamped GM for work slot credit program. Up to 75 members per meeting (who signed up on the shift calendar) will receive work slot credit for attending the GM. Please note that signing up in advance for the GM in Member Services is the ONLY way to receive work slot credit for attending a GM.
In the future, the shifts for work slot credit at the GM will appear on the shift calendar in Member Services every month on the Wednesday AFTER the GM. For example, the shifts for the October 31 GM will be available on Wednesday, Sept. 27. Select “General Meeting for work credit” from the drop-down menu in the shift calendar to view available slots. For more information about the GM work slot credit program, please read the shift description in Member Services. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact the Office via the Contact Us feature in Member Services or visit the Office during opening hours.
September General Meeting MATERIALS
Get prepared by reading the GM agenda, preliminary 32-week Financial Statement, and
Draft August 2023 General Meeting minutes. We also want to direct you to other materials explaining the GM, how it works, and the Coop’s governance.
We recommend members attend the General Meeting to have a fuller understanding of the Coop. The GM is where members deliberate on member- or staff-submitted agenda items, listen to reports from member committees, and vote on proposals or elections. It is also an opportunity to hear directly from the staff about the Coop’s finances and operations. Meaningful member participation strengthens our governance system, ensures that the Board of Directors hears from the Coop membership, and upholds the democratic principle at the heart of cooperatives.
In Cooperation,
Ann Herpel, General Coordinator
